Shift Key Disable Code

Bypass Startup Options demo download.  Having a hard time getting the VBA code to work just right to disable the shift key in your Access database?  If you want to keep nosey users out of your code and generally keep them out of all aspects of you Access database then you need to use this Visual Basic code to disable the shift key. This code will give you control over access to the startup options in Access.  By disabling or enabling the shift key access is removed or granted.  We often use this VBA code feature to lock up demo databases in combination with a VBA password and a few other tricks to prevent people from stealing our database to stealing the code.

Here are the startup options that you can turn on and off with a true or false option:


To use the code we typically add a Double Click event to some small object on a beginning form in the database.  When this object is double clicked a box will popup asking for a password.  If the user enters the correct password then the Shift key will be enabled.  If an incorrect password is entered then the Shift key will be disabled.  The functions for this is included in this database download.
